Job summary

Advanced Space is seeking a Mission Design Engineer to apply astrodynamics expertise across Earth‑orbiting, cislunar, and interplanetary missions. You will contribute from architecture and trajectory optimization to operations support.

The role requires 2–5 years of experience, Python/Julia scripting, and familiarity with MONTE, Copernicus, GMAT, STK, or FreeFlyer. You will collaborate across engineering teams and help build tools for future missions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of professional experience in mission design, astrodynamics, trajectory design, or related discipline.
• Experience applying mission design concepts to real aerospace problems.
• Proficiency with astrodynamics software like MONTE, Copernicus, GMAT, STK, or FreeFlyer.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or Julia for scripting and analyses.

Responsibilities

• Design mission architectures and optimize trajectories.
• Apply mission design and trajectory optimization across Earth‑orbiting, cislunar, interplanetary missions.
• Perform mission design analyses including delta‑V budgeting and Monte Carlo simulations.
• Take ownership of mission phases and collaborate with technical leads to define analytical approaches.
• Build and improve astrodynamics software and flight operations tools using Python and Julia.
• Collaborate across navigation, systems, GNC, and flight software to integrate analyses.
• Document and present design results for internal teams and customers.
• Stay current with aerospace research to push mission design capabilities.
