Job summary

Sutherlands is seeking a Lumberyard Salesperson in Harrisonville, MO to join our retail lumber yard team. You will greet customers, assist with loading, and guide customers to the right products, supporting overall sales goals.

Ideal candidates have 1+ years in retail sales, a High School diploma or GED, and the ability to work a varied schedule including weekends. Drug screening is required, and lifting up to 95 lbs is expected.

Lumberyard Salesperson (Harrisonville, MO)

A Lumberyard Salesperson position is currently open at ourHarrisonville, MO location. Career opportunities may be available to full-time employees.

Objectives:

To be an integral part of our retail sales team by demonstrating excellent customer service skills in our retail lumber yard. Our ideal candidate takes pleasure in solving problems, is able to work under pressure, up sell products to customers and enjoys being part of a team. Teamwork at Sutherlands means participating in team decisions, maintaining good working relationships and supporting coworkers and our business goals.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Greeting customers
• Operate Forklifts, saws, and banding equipment
• Accurately gather and prepare customer delivery loads
• Assisting customers to load their vehicles
• Guiding customers towards the right product(s)
• Cross train to fill in at other departments inside the store
• Assisting with yard returns and exchanges

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have a high school education/GED and 1+ years of retail sales experience or the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training. Specific product knowledge and sales experience is preferred, but not necessary. A varied schedule will include day, evening and weekend shifts.

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Excellent customer service skills
• Pass initital and random drug screens
• Have a friendly and outgoing personality
• Be able to lift 95 lbs. without assistance
• Be detail oriented
• Be motivated, hardworking and honest

Pay will be based on the level of experience.
