Job summary

R.P. Lumber is hiring a Yard Associate for our Silvis, IL lumberyard. This hands-on, outdoor role involves loading customers, keeping the yard organized and safe, and helping with deliveries and unloading lumber, shingles, drywall, and other building materials. Reports to the Yard Manager; forklift experience is helpful and training is provided.

We are a family-owned retailer with 100+ locations, offering full-time employment with benefits. The position is on-site in Silvis, IL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to clearly communicate with customers, teammates, and managers.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work outdoors in changing weather.
• Ability to perform essential physical functions including lifting 50–100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Greet contractors and homeowners when they enter the yard.
• Load customer vehicles and company trucks after checking the ticket.
• Answer basic questions about product, orders, pricing, and delivery timing.
• Help keep yard areas stocked, faced, priced, clean, and safe.
• Unload incoming freight without damaging product or equipment.
• Operate a forklift to stock and merchandise the yard and warehouse.
• Build accurate delivery loads before trucks leave.
• Ride along on deliveries to help unload and stage product at homes and jobsites.
• Follow and help enforce company safety rules.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Yard Manager.
