Job summary

Madwood is seeking a Machine Operator in Madison, VA to run stationary equipment and assist with lumber grading in a fast-paced production setting. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and adhering to safety standards while supporting a team on a regular 40-hour schedule.

The position offers full-time hours with overtime as needed, a benefits package, and opportunities to train others in safe equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete all required safety training and maintain applicable equipment certifications
• Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions without posing a direct threat to self or others
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to safely operate power tools and heavy machinery
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Ability to train and assist other employees

Responsibilities

• Operating stationary machinery
• Lift, carry, position, and stack treated and untreated lumber
• Manually stage lumber and pull individual pieces from full units for special orders
• Grade lumber for quality, specifications, and compliance
• Band lumber units to ensure safe handling and transport
• Apply end tags using pneumatic tools
• Apply moisture barrier wrapping to lumber units
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production and work areas
• Train and assist other employees in safe and proper equipment operation
• Perform additional production-related duties as assigned
