The successful candidate will drain and replace oil on heavy equipment, top off fluids, inspect for leaks, check tires, install parts, lubricate moving parts, and document detailed service reports. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work in the US are required.

Qualifications

• Aptitude for mechanical diagnosis and repair.
• Demonstrated experience with servicing vehicles.
• Valid driver's license and legal work status in the US.
• Willingness to pass a drug screen and background check; strong time management.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to read/relay information from manuals and reports.
• Physical ability to perform tasks including bending, reaching, standing long periods, lifting over 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

Job description

SMS Mill Services, LLC is a leader in the steel mill services industry prioritizing recycling and environmental/workers’ safety and handling all operations with integrity. SMS is seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused Lubrication Technician for its Mill Services site in Mingo Junction, Ohio. This is a 24/7 operation; located on steel mill property.

Responsibilities

• Draining the oil from a heavy equipment and replacing it to manufacturer specifications
• Topping off other fluids, including brake, power steering and windshield wiper fluid
• Inspecting the engine block and underbody for leaks and potential issues
• Checking tire pressure and filling tires with air as needed to manufacturer specifications
• Installing new parts, such as air filters, oil filters, windshield wipers and batteries
• Lubricating moving parts as necessary, including those in the engine and wheel bearings and ensuring the engine is kept clean throughout servicing
• Diagnosing existing issues and consulting with lead mechanics on the team to address the equipment issues
• Creating detailed service reports

Qualifications

• An aptitude for mechanical diagnosis and repair

• A valid drivers license and the ability to work legally in the US

• The ability to read and follow complex directions in manuals as well as relay information in reports
• The physical ability to perform all tasks related to the position of Lube Technician, such as bending and reaching, standing for long periods of time and lifting over 60 pounds
