Job description

Lube Technician Role at Prysmian in McKinney, TX

Prysmian, the global leader in cable systems for power transmission and telecommunications, keeps modern infrastructure connected. Following its 2024 acquisition of Encore Wire, the company's McKinney, Texas campus now operates as one of its most advanced single-site manufacturing facilities. To maintain this high-performing operation, Prysmian is seeking a full-time Lube Technician to join its team.

Manufacturing excellence depends on equipment reliability, and that reliability starts with proper lubrication and preventive maintenance. This role sits at the foundation of industrial operations, ensuring heavy machinery runs efficiently and safely. For professionals who enjoy hands-on work and want to contribute to a large-scale operation, this position offers a meaningful entry point into manufacturing maintenance.

What the Role Involves

As a Lube Technician, your day revolves around keeping equipment in peak condition. Core responsibilities include:

  • Lubrication & Preventive Maintenance: Perform assigned task lists covering equipment lubrication, preventive maintenance, and contamination prevention in line with company standards.
  • Tool Proficiency: Use hand and power tools daily, including grinders, saws, impact wrenches, and drill presses.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate heavy industrial machinery such as forklifts, scissors lifts, and basket trucks.
  • Workspace Cleanliness: Keep all areas and machines free of leaked or spilled lubricants.
  • Feedback & Reporting: Provide work order feedback on any discrepancies noted during service delivery.
  • Elevated Work: Work from ladders, platforms, and scaffolding using fall protection equipment as needed.

The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though flexibility for other shifts, holidays, and weekends may be required based on operational demands.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or approved GED. An MLT-1 (Machinery Lubrication Technician, Level 1) certification is preferred but not mandatory, and one year of lubrication experience is a plus. Basic computer skills and working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance concepts are also expected.

The work environment is a loud production setting subject to extreme temperatures, with some outdoor duties. The role demands comfort with repetitive movement, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds while bending, twisting, or standing.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a starting pay of $23 per hour along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance. Employees also have access to a 401K Savings Plan with company matching contributions, paid holidays, and vacation time.

Application Tips for Manufacturing Maintenance Roles
  • Highlight hands-on mechanical experience: Even if you haven't held a formal lube technician role before, emphasize any work involving preventive maintenance, equipment servicing, or industrial machinery operation on your resume.
  • Pursue relevant certifications proactively: While MLT-1 certification is not required, mentioning that you are studying for or planning to obtain it demonstrates initiative. The International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) administers this credential.
  • Reference safety credentials: OSHA certification or forklift operation training are highly relevant in manufacturing environments. If you hold either, make it visible on your application materials.
  • Use industry-specific job boards: Beyond LinkedIn, explore manufacturing-focused platforms such as Indeed Manufacturing, iHireManufacturing, or the Manufacturing Institute's job board to discover similar roles.
  • Prepare for a practical interview: Manufacturing hiring managers often ask scenario-based questions about equipment failure scenarios or preventive maintenance routines. Review common lubrication standards and contamination control practices beforehand.

With 9,000 team members in North America alone, Prysmian offers a workplace where individual contributions ripple across a global network. If you are safety-conscious, team-oriented, and ready to make an impact on the factory floor, this opportunity is worth exploring before applications close on November 21, 2026.
