Job summary

Komatsu Company-Owned Dealer East is seeking a Class 2 Mechanic/Technician for a 2:00 PM–10:30 PM shift. The role requires a CDL, a clean driving record, and 5+ years of heavy equipment repair experience.

You will diagnose, repair, and service construction and industrial equipment while mentoring junior staff and ensuring top-notch customer service. The position emphasizes strong technical skills, reading/writing English, and the ability to document work clearly for service notes and quotes.

Qualifications

• CDL license, clean driving record required.
• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment repair.
• Strong diagnostic and repair experience with heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to convey repair details in service notes for work orders.
• Mentor less tenured mechanics in the branch operations.

Responsibilities

• Support the Mechanic in developing skills and knowledge alongside them.
• Repair, rebuild, or replace engines and other major components.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment.
• Read and write clear service notes and contribute to quotes for customers.
• Operate heavy equipment and ensure safe, efficient shop operations.

Key Job Responsibilities

The schedule is generally 2:00pm to 10:30pm, based on customer needs. You will be working alongside of a Mechanic Helper, supporting their development.

Successful candidates for a Class 2 Mechanic in our Shop should have a CDL license, clean driving record and have 5 plus years of experience in the heavy equipment repair industry, including but not limited to:

• Strong diagnostic and repair experience with heavy equipment (construction, mining, material handling, paving, milling, etc.)
• Ability to repair, rebuild, or replace engines and other major components
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, etc. systems
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance services
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft products as well as industry software
• Ability to read and write the English language
• Ability to convey repair details in clear and accurate service notes for assigned work orders
• Participation in writing customer quotes and delivery of best-in-class customer service
• Mentor less tenured mechanics in the branch operations
• Operation of heavy equipment
• CDL required for Lube Truck
• Other duties as assigned

As a mechanic or technician with Komatsu Company Owned Distributors East, the physically demanding work is performed in industrial environments and includes exposure to significant environmental conditions, including but not limited to:

• Sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing
• Working at heights
• Carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, bending, and crouching
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds
• Hand/eye and motor coordination
• Work overtime as needed
• The workplace environmental conditions include subject to noise, heat, cold, odors, hazards, and atmospheric exposures

Hiring Range

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $$40.83 per hour, plus $1.00 per hour shift differential.
