  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts, math reasoning, and math logic.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Other Skills & Abilities: Exhibit sound judgment; ability to develop working relationships with department colleagues, school staff, students, parents, and administration; demonstrate organizational and time-management skills.

LTS - BUSINESS EDUCATION TEACHER
HIGH SCHOOL

Ephrata Area School District, 803 Oak Blvd., Ephrata, PA, is recruiting for the position of aLTS Business Education Teacher. The Teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students, performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District Policies. The LTS Business Education Teacher will develop in each pupil an understanding of our American business system and its place in the nation's economy; to provide knowledge needed for intelligent consumption of business services; to develop practical business skills for personal use or for use in business occupation; to encourage pupils to develop work and personal habits essential for success in business.

POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Includes but is not limited to:

  • Create a learning environment in which each student is expected to learn at elevated levels, each student is supported so he or she can learn at elevated levels, and each student demonstrates learning at elevated levels.
  • Promote elevated levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities; raise the bar of expectations for students at all ability levels.
  • Develop and implement higher level thinking activities.
  • Build familiarity and use of PDE's Standards Aligned System (SAS) for keeping current with standards, anchors, Essential Questions, Concepts/Skills, Competencies/Objectives, interventions, etc. related to teaching subject matter.
  • Develop and implement challenging assessments while providing scaffolds for students who exhibit the need for support.
  • Utilize current and relevant subject matter, including authentic materials and documents.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow department members to develop and modify common curriculum, including pacing guides, instructional resources, and lesson plans.
  • Utilize technology to make subject matter relevant and enhance learning outcomes.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENT

  • Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbook.

Other Requirements: Applicants must also possess the followingcriminalclearances obtained within the last 12 months:Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance. The Ephrata Area School District alsorequires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.
