Job summary

Aflac, a Fortune 500 company and leader in voluntary insurance, seeks a claims specialist for remote work from the continental US. You will handle disability financial calculations, ensure accuracy in payments, and communicate complex figures to Case Managers while providing exceptional customer service.

The role requires strong math, Excel skills, and 2–5 years of related experience, with a high school diploma or higher and a preference for group disability experience.

Responsibilities

• Applies policy provisions to pre- and post-disability calculations.
• Reviews claimant return-to-work earnings calculations.
• Reviews and adjusts offset coding in the claims payment system.
• Ensures accuracy of disability benefit components in payments.
• Communicates policyholder financial information to Case Managers as needed.
• Makes calls to obtain missing financial information and supports other duties.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Calculates pre-disability earnings, COLAs, deductions, offsets, overpayments, underpayments and other and ongoing financial work in accordance with the provisions in the group disability policies.
• Responsible for the application of policy provisions related to pre- and post-disability financial calculations.
• Provides an ongoing review of claimant return to work earnings calculations.
• Reviews offset coding in the claims payment system for known offsets and adjusts as necessary.
• Reviews and ensures the accuracy of the benefit components in the claims payment systems.
• Reviews documentation and coding for the disability benefit taxability, including FIT, SIT, FICA.
• Demonstrates strong communication around financial aspect of claim to be available to the Case Managers for calculation explanations.
• Makes Policyholder/ Insured calls as necessary and appropriate to obtain missing financial information
• Performs other duties as required

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $60,000-$80,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.

At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
