Job summary

Northern Pharmacy and Medical Equipment is seeking a licensed Staff Pharmacist (RPh) to join our community pharmacy team in Parkville, Maryland. The role focuses on medication safety, clinical excellence, and patient-centered service.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, providing clinical recommendations, DUR reviews, verifying labels and packaging, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy technicians. Long-Term Care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• :Must hold a Maryland Pharmacist license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug selection, dosage, potential drug interactions, route of administration, and stability.
• Provide clinical recommendations regarding medication therapy changes to physicians and facility staff when appropriate.
• Review patient medical information and conduct Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) on prescriptions to identify potential drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and other clinical concerns.
• Review and resolve clinical edits as appropriate.
• Verify the completeness and accuracy of new and refill prescription labels and medication orders.
• Verify the content and accuracy of medication packaging and labeling, including emergency drug kits.
• Maintain resident information within the pharmacy database, including relevant current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medications, including OTC medications and home remedies.
• Assist with the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of controlled substances.
• Assist in maintaining perpetual inventory records for Schedule II controlled substances.
• Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians to reconcile controlled-substance perpetual inventory as required by management and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Provide clinical expertise by responding to medication-related questions and concerns from internal staff and external customers.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, patients/residents, family members, and other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Document relevant clinical communications and interventions in the appropriate patient/resident record.
• Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations, company policies, and HIPAA requirements.
• Participate in evening, weekend, and holiday coverage rotations as required.
• Participate in the pharmacist on-call rotation approximately every third week and as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental and business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Long-Term Care pharmacy experience.
• Experience with QS/1 pharmacy software.
• Experience with DocuTrack.
