Widseth Smith Nolting and Associates Inc is seeking a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) in Minnesota. The role leads field survey operations, mentors junior technicians, and collaborates with engineers and CAD staff to ensure precise data delivery.

A strong eye for detail and field willingness are essential. Required: LSIT certification and a degree in Surveying or Geomatics; familiarity with GPS, total stations, CAD software; valid driver’s license and travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field
• LSIT certification is required or pursued
• Familiarity with surveying equipment (GPS, total stations, levels) and CAD software

Responsibilities

• Lead field survey team operations, including planning, equipment setup, and data collection
• Supervise and train junior technicians on field procedures, safety, and best practices
• Perform quality control checks on field data and documentation
• Serve as a technical mentor and develop training resources for the team
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and CAD technicians to ensure accuracy and timely delivery
• Interpret legal descriptions, survey plats, and construction documents
• Maintain high standards for field safety, equipment care, and data integrity
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate survey instruments (GPS, GNSS, total stations, data collectors)
