Job summary
Bi-State Development in Saint Clair Yards And Shops (Illinois) seeks an Assistant Superintendent, Light Rail Vehicle Maintenance to oversee all LRV maintenance activities, ensure safe operation, and manage department planning, resources, payroll, and staff training. The role requires coordinating with engineering and supervision teams to maintain uptime and safety.
You will supervise inspections, document repairs, administer budgets, and mentor maintenance staff to support reliable rail service
Qualifications
- Certified LRV Electromechanic or LRV Supervisor.
- Strong knowledge of LRV circuits and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with Payroll, Contracts and Procurement.
- Excellent communication across levels of the Agency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and CFA.
Responsibilities
- Oversee inspection and maintenance of LRV fleets.
- Document repairs and ensure corrective actions to minimize defects.
- Administer training and certifications for mechanics.
- Maintain shop equipment, tools and safety gear.
- Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with standards.
- Plan maintenance, procure parts, and manage budget resources.
- Coordinate with other supervisors and contractors as needed.
- Mentor staff and support succession planning.
