Job summary

Orlando Health – Health Central Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winter Garden, FL seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide and document individualized patient care, including assessment, education, medication administration, IV therapy, and treatments under the direction of the RN.

This night-shift role (11:00pm–7:00am) offers part-time and full-time opportunities with benefits starting day one, ongoing education, and a commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing program.
• Completion of a 30-hour IV therapy course within 30 days of hire.
• Active Florida nursing license.
• Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.
• Communicates information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and team.
• Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
• Documents patient data and education according to policies.
• Perform triage to assess patient needs and determine next steps.
• Administer oral and injectable medications or immunizations as directed.

A Day in YOUR Life as a Licensed Practical Nurse

The LPN provides and documents individualized patient care to include patient evaluation, education, medication administration, IV therapy, treatments and patient safety as directed by the RN or provider.

Schedule:

11:00pm-7:00am - Nights (Part-time and Full-Time)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.
• Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
• Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
• Documents patient data, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific guidelines
• Able to perform triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining next step in care, working in collaboration as directed by the department nursing team or provider(s).
• Appropriately administer oral and injectable medications or immunizations per LPN scope and as directed by a provider.
• Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patient and family.
• Assumes an active role in keeping informed about changes in hospital policy, procedure, and equipment.
• Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
• Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on the assigned unit.
• Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age‑specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

Education/Training

• Nursing School Graduate
• Successful completion of a 30-hour approved IV therapy course within 30 days of hire for inpatient/SNF only.

Licensure/Certification

• Current nursing license in the State of Florida renewed every two years.
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
