Job summary

Allegheny Health Network’s Saint Vincent Hospital Respiratory Care Department seeks an LPN to collaborate with respiratory therapists and physicians. You will assist with aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and airway management to improve patients’ quality of life.

As part of a Magnet-designated hospital, you will support emergency care and chronic respiratory disease management in the Lake Erie region. The role emphasizes collaboration and patient-centered care within a direct care team.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or current multi-state licensure through the eNLC.
  • High School/GED or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: 1 year in healthcare, PALS or ACLS, state-approved IV course certification, EPIC documentation knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general nursing care within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Assists with equipment preparation and assists the clinician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Collects assessment data, prepares patients for examination, documents information, and reports changes to the RN/physician.
  • Orders diagnostic tests as directed by the clinician and reviews results prior to assessment.
  • Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations; assists staff with administering medications, blood and tissue collection, and other lab tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Overview

This job is a member of the direct care healthcare team and is responsible for providing care to patients and families under the direction of the registered nurse.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Performs general nursing care within the LPN scope of practice. (30%)
  • Assists with the preparation of equipment and assists the clinical provider (registered nurse, advanced practice nurse and/or physician) during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. (20%)
  • Collects assessment data, prepares patient for examination and documents clinical information on patient record and reports any changes in patients condition to the registered nurse, advanced practice nurse or physician. (20%)
  • Orders diagnostic tests as directed by the clinical provider (registered nurse, advanced practice nurse and/or physician) and gathers diagnostic tests and/or examines results prior to physician/clinical provider assessment. (20%)
  • Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations, as necessary, under the direction/oversight of the registered nurse. Assists nursing and medical staff with basic medical tasks such as administering medications, blood and tissue collection and/or other laboratory specimens; prepare patients for testing. (20%)
  • Other duties as assigned or requested. (10%)
Qualifications
Required
  • High School/GED
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
Preferred
  • 1 year in healthcare
  • PALS or ACLS
  • State approved IV course certification.
  • Knowledge of EPIC documentation and assessment process

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
