Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing care, administer medications, and document care for a designated patient group under supervision. The role involves assisting during exams, preparing rooms, and ensuring patient safety across shifts.

The LPN will follow nursing processes, participate in care planning, and respond to emergencies while upholding clinic policies and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of vocational school LPN program.
• Current licensure as an LPN in Tennessee.
• BLS certification must be obtained within orientation and kept current.
• Continuing Education Units annually.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care with skill and minimal discomfort, under supervision.
• Administer medications and treatments within scope of practice.
• Initiate peripheral IV access and IV therapies as appropriate.
• Ensure proper segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
• Receive and transcribe orders; relay instructions to patients/family.
• Document care in the patient’s medical record.
• Prepare exam/procedure rooms and assist with procedures and examinations.
• Respond to medical emergencies and initiate CPR as needed.
• Order patient supplies and complete referrals.
