Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is hiring a LPN Outpatient for the Child Development clinic to provide nursing support in a physician practice setting. You will assist with patient care, coordinate services, and document in the EMR.

The role requires VA licensure as an LPN, BLS certification, and strong patient service, communication, and teamwork. Day shift, full-time with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program or a new graduate eligible to sit for Virginia licensure.
• Current LPN license in Virginia required; Limited Radiologic Technician license if radiology duties are performed.
• Current AHA BLS-HCP certification.
• Strong customer service orientation; effective verbal and written communication; proficient with electronic medical records.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

The LPN Outpatient provides practical nursing support in a physician practice or clinic setting, assisting with patient care, clinical procedures, and coordination of services. Collaborates with healthcare providers and team members to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

The LPN Outpatient

• Provides practical nursing support under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider in a clinic setting.
• Performs patient assessments, including vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation.
• Prepares patients for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning, and assistance during exams and procedures.
• Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider.
• Documents patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, including treatment updates, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
• Provides patient education related to medications, treatments, and follow-up care as directed by the provider.
• Assists with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for tests and ancillary services.
• Mantains exam, treatment, and lab areas in a clean and safe condition and ensures supplies and equipment are available.
• Performs laboratory-related tasks as applicable, including specimen collection, preparation, and basic testing following appropriate training and quality standards.
• Performs radiology-related tasks as applicable, including assisting with imaging procedures and ensuring proper safety precautions and documentation.
• Adheres to infection control, safety standards, and proper handling and disposal of specimens and materials.
• Supports telehealth services, including tele-retinal and tele-dermatology setup as applicable.

What We Require:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.
• Experience: None.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Limited Radiologic Technician license required for roles performing radiology functions.
• Life Support: Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong customer service orientation. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals. Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.

Compensation Range: $21.61 - $30.25 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
