Job summary

Unitek Learning is seeking a full-time Nursing Instructor to teach Practical Nursing on-site to a diverse student body. The role includes updating syllabi and participating in professional development.

Requirements include a valid RN license, BSN, and at least four years of direct patient care experience, with teaching experience preferred. On-campus attendance up to 5 days/week is expected.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid, unencumbered license issued by the State Board of Nursing.
• BSN and currently enrolled in a Master’s program may be considered.
• Minimum four years’ experience with direct patient care in RN role.
• One-year experience teaching nursing courses preferred.
• Expertise in Mental Health, Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, L&D, Community Health, or Critical Care.

Responsibilities

• Improve instruction quality by reviewing and using innovative teaching methods.
• Teach nursing courses and clinical rotations (days/evenings, on your schedule).
• Review and revise syllabi and instructional guidelines.
• Submit required program reports to the Director in a timely manner.
• Maintain student records and assist with data collection.
• Stay current with new technologies and safety regulations.
• Attend committees as assigned, prioritizing teaching duties.
• Regular on-site attendance up to 5 days per week is essential.

Job Description

Purpose of the Position:

Instruct Students in the areas of Practical Nursing on a full-time basis.

Job responsibilities:

Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies / techniques in teaching.

Demonstrate or willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.

Assist with reviewing and revising syllabus for specific courses within the program and instructional guidelines.

Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.

Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.

Maintains student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms and assists with program data collection that meets set due dates and deadlines.

Assists with updating and maintaining student files as related to clinical requirements, immunizations and educational requirements.

Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs

Teaches both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends).

Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, takes responsibility for staying current with college updates.

Actively participates in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as a priority.

Regular, in-person attendance up to 5 days per week on campus/on site is an essential function of this position.

This role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid, unencumbered license issued by the State Board of Nursing;
• BSN and currently enrolled in a Master’s program may be considered
• Minimum four-years’ experience, with one year in the last five years, as a registered nurse providing direct patient care. Clinical experience within the last five years (clinical teaching in an RN program applies toward direct patient care.) Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c);
• One-year experience teaching courses related to nursing or completion of a course which includes practice in teaching nursing preferred; and
• Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing – Mental Health, Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, L&D, Community Health, and/or Critical Care
