Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an LPN Medication Nurse for weekend coverage (Sat/Sun 7:00am–3:00pm) on-site. This part-time role ensures safe, accurate medication administration and coordinated patient care under the guidance of RNs and physicians.

Responsibilities include nursing care, medication passes, patient education, and accurate documentation. The role emphasizes teamwork within a multidisciplinary team and adherence to hospital policy.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license; CPR and CPI certifications must be current.
• Psychiatric experience preferred.
• Strong organization, prioritization and documentation skills; able to perform under high volume/high stress.
• Effective listening, teamwork with a multidisciplinary team, and conflict resolution.

This part-time role supports safe, accurate medication administration and patient care delivery in alignment with the RN and physician plan of care and hospital policy.

Weekend Workflow

Your weekend shift begins with a focused handoff and a quick review of current orders, MARs, and any safety or behavioral precautions. You will coordinate closely with the RN and the multidisciplinary team to keep the unit organized and responsive as patient needs change. Throughout the morning and early afternoon, you’ll balance timely medication passes with patient check-ins, education moments, and documentation touchpoints, ensuring notes are completed clearly and in accordance with policy. As situations arise, you’ll communicate promptly and professionally, elevating potential risk issues through the appropriate chain so concerns are addressed early. The shift closes with accurate wrap-up documentation and a structured report to support continuity into the next coverage period.
