Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking an LPN for the Medical Surgical unit to provide safe, age-appropriate nursing care using the nursing process to support patient health goals.

Required: completion of an accredited practical nurse program or active enrollment in a nursing program, and Ohio LPN licensure (multi-state compact preferred). At least 2 years of nursing experience (Level II) is expected with strong documentation, teamwork, and PHI compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of LPN scope of practice per Ohio board (required).
• Operates stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitors.
• Level II requires 18 CNE/year, leadership CNEs, and peer reviews with evidence.

A Brief Overview

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

What You Will Do

• Functions in accordance with the professional standards of the Ohio board of nursing.
• Completes/submits required documentation.
• Delivers effective relationship based nursing care.

Work Experience

• 2+ years Nursing Experience (Level II only) (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of LPN scope of practice according to the Ohio board of nursing. (Required proficiency)
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices) (Required proficiency)
• Level II Only: 18 CNE's per year. 3 CNE’s in clinical specialty At least 5 CNE’s in Leadership Other CNE requirements will be agreed upon with manager
• Level II Only: 3 Peer Reviews. Committee Involvement. 5 criteria with evidence of each.
