Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the 5 West Med Surg Telemetry unit. The 5 West Wolfpack culture emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and ongoing professional development, with an orientation plan and a nurse residency program to support new graduates.

Expect in‑depth orientation, goal planning, and 30/60/90 day progress check-ins; a transition to team-based care in January 2025 with leads, RNs, virtual nurses, LPNs, and nursing assistants to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
• Effective communication skills required.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork and flexibility required.
• Current Nebraska or compact state LPN license required.
• BLS certification from an AHA endorsed program (effective for new hires starting Jan 1, 2023 or later).
• IV therapy training (8-hour didactic) required if not recent Nebraska LPN program graduate or if license is from a compact state.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and identified clinical support tasks within the LPN scope for the patient’s plan of care in collaboration with the RN and medical staff.
