Work Shift

Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm PRN (as needed)

Summary of the Job

To provide medical assistance to the physician/nurse practitioner in a professional manner and to provide for patients in a caring, efficient and compassionate manner. Handle patient phone calls and care of patients in the office. Perform EKGs and CLIA waived tests as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma
• Good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding
• Current BLS certifications with a manikin check-off (courses such as Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross)
• Ability to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with little supervision
• Displays tact and diplomacy in interpersonal skills
• Maintains BLS certification current at all times
• LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse diploma from an accredited school, current LPN license, maintains annual and continuing education credits
• Medical Assistant: Accredited Medical Assistant Program certification or equivalent, 3+ years on-the-job training preferred, 2-5 years of experience in a physician office setting preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Physician’s office experience preferred
• Experience with EPIC (EMR) a plus along with insurance processes required within a clinical setting

Physical Demands

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include, but are not limited to: standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time; lifting at least 50 pounds; work with a moderate level of noise.
