Job summary

Beacon Health System in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. The role operates on a day shift from 7am to 7:30pm with weekends/holidays per unit rotation.

The LPN will administer medications, monitor patient responses, and assist with lab work and therapeutic services while educating patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or 1 year of relevant experience.
• LPN/LVN license from Michigan Board of Nursing required.
• BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the assessment of patients and assures the well-being of patients.
• Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
• Educates patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
