Job summary

Northport VA Medical Center is hiring a full-time, permanent Licensed Practical Nurse to work in the Community Living Center.

Applicants must be a graduate of an approved practical nursing program, hold a current LPN license in the United States, and be proficient in English. The position is GS-3 to GS-6 level with responsibilities escalating with experience and supervision by RN/MD/DO.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from a practical nursing program approved by the state Accrediting agency and/or NLN.
• Full, current, active and unrestricted LPN licensure in a U.S. state/DC.
• English language proficiency in both written and spoken forms.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical nursing care to patients within the Community Living Center under RN/MD supervision.
• Administer prescribed medications and document patient responses.
• Assist in orientation and training of less experienced nursing staff and nursing assistants.
• Ensure safety, asepsis, and proper care planning in daily patient care.
