Job summary

Sanford Health is hiring a PRN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the West Union GSS. The role involves delivering high‑quality nursing care in a resident-focused environment with flexible hours.

You will work within the full scope of LPN practice, coordinating with the care team to support patient safety and comfort. The position requires an LPN license, practical nursing education, and relevant clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
• Associate degree in practical nursing preferred.
• If IV therapy/management is required in North Dakota, IV therapy training is required as per state rules.
• Must have clinical experience across the lifespan or 400 hours as an LPN at another facility.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the clinical setting.
• Performs within full scope of nursing expertise and adheres to age/population-specific standards.
• Performs testing to evaluate resident status and provides needed care.
• Recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds to emergencies.
• Ensures health, comfort and safety of residents; administers medications or treatments as ordered.
• Provides support to healthcare professionals and documents resident interactions and outcomes.
• Maintains confidentiality and works as part of an interdisciplinary care team.

Job Description

• Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting.
• Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan.
• Possess the ability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and to provide the care needed.

• Knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility.
• Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements.
• Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
• Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.
