Responsibilities

• Direct patients to exam rooms and prepare them for exams by taking vitals and recording history.
• Process prescriptions after provider authorization and document in patient chart.
• Handle referrals via email/fax/call and provide referral numbers as needed.
• Support department operations by covering for other staff and performing clerical tasks.
• Maintain supplies and room cleanliness; coordinate meds and clinical equipment.
• Administer injections/medications and document administration.
• Guide patients to labs and follow-up appointments for testing.
• Understand medications’ side effects and interactions; review pathology results with patients.
• Set up and tear down sterile fields and assist with surgical trays.
• Assist surgeons in office or operating room as required.
• Maintain infection control and autoclave sterilization procedures.

Job description

This position qualifies for up to $15,000.00 Sign on Bonus for those that are eligible. ($7,500.00 for those with less than one year of experience)

Position Summary:

Assist physician with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice working within and to the maximum scope of license

Education, License & Cert:

LPN ‑ license based on corresponding position location

Experience:

One‑year experience in healthcare field preferred but not required

Essential Functions:

1. Directs patient to exam room and prepares patient for exam or treatment by identifying height, weight, respirations, blood pressure, temperature, additional testing, and records same on chart. Will also interview patient to obtain history allergies, reconciles medication list and records on chart as requested.
2. Write or call Rx after obtaining surgeon/provider authorization for all department surgeons/providers as needed. Chart as written in patient's chart
3. Email, fax or call in any insurance referrals. Follow up phone call with referral number to specialist if requested.
4. Assists in smooth departmental operation by filling in for other LPNs, clinical assistant and MOA's as requested. Answers telephone and performs other clerical functions as necessary (screen calls according to urgency and need). Must train and maintain proficiency in the use of computer equipment and other computer program training as requested. 5. Attends to exam and procedure rooms, including assurance that proper supplies are on hand, maintain order and cleanliness. Order medications or clinical supplies for the department as requested.
6. Administers prescribed injections/medications and records them on patient's chart
7. Routes patient after exam to proper area for ancillary testing or follow‑up appointments, i.e. Blood work, x‑rays, and enter lab testing as requested.
8. Basic knowledge of medications (side effects/contraindications, etc.)
9. Be able to read and review pathology results with patients
10. Setup and tear down sterile fields
11. Basic knowledge of surgical instruments
12. Prepare surgical trays as needed for procedures for the day.
13. Assist surgeon with operative procedures both in the office and Operating Room if necessary
14. Maintain infection control measures including but not limited to proper cleaning of surgical equipment and use of autoclave
15. Proficient with autoclave sterilization process
16. Knowledge and proficiency of dressing changes and suture removal
17. Assess signs and symptoms of infection and reporting to surgeon and/or provider
18. Hepatitis checks and protocol to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse

Other Duties:

1. As assigned as appropriate for LPN licensure
2. Attend new employee orientation and all mandatory events such as in‑services, classes, training as required by the organization
3. Complies with the dress code policy as set forth by Guthrie
4. Attends and participates in Department meetings, along with contributing to department/office goals

Pay Range $27.00-$39.27/hour Dependent on years of applicable experience.
