Salary: $32.50 / hour

Schedules Available:

Saturday and Sunday 7a-3p

Friday and Saturday 11p-7a, and Sunday 11p-9a

Tuesday and Wednesday 3p-11p

Job Summary

To provide nursing and direct care services for individuals with disabilities living in the community. To teach people with developmental disabilities how to acquire the physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills needed to live as independently as possible. Will perform all duties necessary to meet state approved objectives, including the requirement that the employee cooperate with the licensee, NJ Department of Human Services, and the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation. The employee must also cooperate and comply with the requirements for checks of criminal background, the central registry, the child abuse registry, and drug testing. Will address any issues regarding the health, safety and/or welfare of the above-mentioned individuals in cooperation with Allies, Inc. Support Manager, Allies, Inc. Administrative staff and/or NJ State Case Management as applicable. Will adhere to the most recent revisions of Allies, Inc. and the State of New Jersey policy and procedure including, but not limited to The Allies, Inc. Code of Ethics, The Allies, Inc. Operational Manual, DDD Circulars, and/or any other relevant policy and procedure.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care effectively by ensuring the general well-being of each individual served while promoting a consumer-oriented approach to health care.
  • Administers medication and completes documentation of same.
  • Assists individuals, as necessary in daily living skills.
  • Accompanies individuals to and from medical appointments and activities.
  • Accurately completes all in-house documentation.
  • Attends conferences, seminars and training relevant to the position.
  • Implements medically prescribed diets and exercise programs.
  • Assists the Agency Nurse in training of Support Staff in the areas of health maintenance, medications, and medical treatments.
  • Encourages and ensures that individuals maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment providing assistance as appropriate.
  • Accurately completes all in-house documentation including but not limited to Vehicle Log, behavioral tracking, Antecedent Behavior Consequence (ABC) forms, Unusual Incident Reports (UIRs), Critical Information Log, Medication Administration Reports (MAR), Progress notes and Monthly reports as assigned.
  • Successfully completes required residential training, including CPR and First Aid; Medication Administration; Preventing Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation; Shifting Expectations, Life Experience and Services; Life Threatening Emergencies (Danielle’s Law); New Hire Orientation; Crisis Management; Corporate Compliance; General Behavior; In-House Orientation; and any required specialized trainings.
  • Works with each individual’s Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and all other interested parties to build self-esteem and social capital for each individual served.
  • Operates all types of agency vehicles, in any condition, at any point during shift.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Graduate of accredited Nursing School; LPN
  • Licensed in the State of New Jersey
  • Valid Unrestricted Driver’s License with good driving record
  • One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred, but not required
  • The ability to lift and transfer at least 50 pounds
  • The ability to sit, bend, squat, reach, and stand for several hours at a time
  • Basic Computer Literacy
  • Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English and direct/respond to individual’s needs
