Job summary

BJC Medical Group in Cardiology, based in O'Fallon & St. Peter's, MO, seeks a full-time Staff LPN Ambulatory to provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include rooming patients, vitals, IV fluids, and point-of-care testing under physician supervision.

The role requires LPN with IV certification, a nursing background, and a strong commitment to patient safety. This is a no-call, no-weekends position with day shifts and 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Direct patient care under physician supervision.

• Administer medications and initiate/discontinue IV fluids as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs and point-of-care testing.

Role Purpose

The Staff LPN Ambulatory is responsible for providing direct patient care under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider in an ambulatory care setting. Assigned tasks may include rooming patients, obtaining vitals, administering medications in-office, initiating/discontinuing IV fluids, performing point of care lab testing, assisting with procedures and triaging patient phone calls. All responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with applicable state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides general nursing services to patients under the supervision of a physician or other licensed provider within the scope of practice for the LPN.
• Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point of care testing and medication administration. Assists with medical office procedures and initiating/discontinuing IV fluids as directed.
• Follows HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, Medication Management and Infection Prevention procedures for cleaning and sterilization of equipment and/or instruments.
• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
• Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
