Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the GI team on a daytime schedule. You will participate in patient care, education, and clinical support in a state-of-the-art facility, with a Monday-Thursday and Friday shift pattern that avoids weekends and holidays.

The role requires an accredited practical nursing program graduate with an active LPN license; IV therapy experience per North Dakota requirements may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with state board and/or multi-state licensure.
• If IV therapy/management is required, the North Dakota requirements for IV therapy apply.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care under supervision.
• Document thorough medical history and assess patients; administer medications or treatments as ordered.
• Counsel patients and families on prevention and treatment plans; support the GI/hepatology team.

As an LPN on our GI team, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience across a range of GI subspecialties, while empowering patients through exceptional education and patient-centered care. You will work alongside a close-knit, collaborative clinical team supported by strong leadership, all within a newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance both patient care and your professional growth. This role is expected to support our fast-paced Hepatology team within GI at Sanford.

Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break, Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break!

No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call!

Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.

Job Description

Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients. Documents a thorough medical history from patient. Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers medications or treatments as ordered. Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed. Counseling patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans. The LPN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.

Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
