Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking an LPN to provide skilled nursing care on the Med/Surg unit. You will use the nursing process under RN supervision to ensure safe, effective patient care 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program and possession of a current Missouri LPN license; additional certifications may be required based on unit. Mercy emphasizes compassionate care and teamwork.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of person(s) licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

LPN - Med/ Surg Mercy Hospital South Day - 7:00PM - 7:00AM

$2,000 Sign on Bonus!

Minimum Qualifications

• Education:
  Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program. Consideration will be given to candidates with comparable education, relevant experience, and successful licensure
• Licensure:
  Must obtain and maintain a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state where nursing duties are performed. The individual is responsible for meeting and maintaining all State Board of Nursing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications:
  One or more of the following certifications may be required based on the position, unit assignment, or must be obtained within the department’s specified timeframe:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. Program (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) through the American Heart Association (required within 30 days of hire)
  • LPN-IV Certification (Missouri only) - must be completed prior to hire or within 3 months of hire
  • Additional unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout each shift
• Ability to perform essential physical functions, including gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting to carry out job responsibilities
