Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under direction and supervision, is accountable for the care of patients. The LPN focuses on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The LPN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit, promotes their own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice, and supports education through a Practice Governance framework. The LPN may delegate nursing tasks to non-licensed staff members. In collaboration with leadership, the LPN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the plan of care, applying educational and professional experiences to deliver quality care and mentoring/precepting of non-licensed staff and students.
