Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA is seeking a dedicated LPN for night shift to deliver compassionate patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team, following the nursing process and professional standards.

Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, planning and updating care, teaching patients and families, communicating changes to the team, and contributing to unit efficiency while meeting staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited LPN program.
• Current LPN licensure in Iowa.
• Previous acute care experience preferred (1 year).

Responsibilities

• Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs; documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
• Assists in developing and implementing the plan of care, including discharge planning, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs, updating the plan as the patient’s condition changes.
• Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing learning needs and formulating a teaching plan.
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and to multidisciplinary caregivers.
• Attends and participates in departmental/organizational meetings and in-services; 80% attendance with 50% in person if meetings are available by webinar.
• Supports staffing needs and resource management; maintains appropriate supplies and remains flexible with schedule and hours.

Employment Type: Full Time (36 hours per week)

Shift: Night Shift (7 PM to 7 AM)

Position Purpose:

This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

What you will Do:

• Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
• Assists in the development and implementation of patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills Reviews and updates the plan of care based on changes in patient’s condition
• Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing the learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan to meet those needs
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and to multidisciplinary caregivers
• Attends and participates in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services and educational opportunities. Department meeting attendance requirement: 80% with 50% in person if department meetings are available by webinar.
• Serves as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources. Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies in department. Supports staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited LPN program required.
• Current LPN licensure in the state of Iowa required.
• Previous experience in acute care preferred, one year preferred.
