Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program approved by the state.
• Active, full, unrestricted LPN/LVN license.
• English language proficiency required.
• Non-citizens may apply only where allowed by VA policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of practical nursing care to patients.
• Collaborate with RN/MD to maintain standards of care.
• Educate patients and families on venipuncture, procedures, and treatments.
• Perform phlebotomy and handle complications as needed.
• Collect, label, prepare, and store lab samples per procedure.
• Label containers and instruct patients on proper collection.
• Maintain instruments and ensure specimen handling complies with lab specs.
• Prepare lab requisitions and ensure timely, accurate documentation.
• Keep work areas clean, sanitary, and PPE-compliant.
