Job summary

Mercy in Springfield, IL is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to deliver compassionate patient care using the nursing process under the supervision of a state-licensed prescriber or RN. The role focuses on safety, teamwork, and patient advocacy within a 4D Cardiac Surg Intermediate ICU setting.

Qualified candidates may receive a Graduate Nurse Sign-On Bonus up to $2,000 and PTO frontload up to 40 hours for full-time experienced LPNs.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Licensure: Maintain current LPN license in the hiring state.
• Physical requirements/demands: Stand/walk most of the time; lift/push up to 50 pounds.
• Experience: Can be new or experienced LPN.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; IV certification preferred.
• Preferred certifications: IV Certification.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of person(s) licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

PTO Frontload up to 40 hours for full time experienced LPN’s

4D Cardiac Surg Intermediate:

4D is an intermediate ICU otherwise called a Progressive Care Unit. The unit includes a 28 bed fully monitored unit. We provide high acuity care to critically ill post-operative cardiothoracic, vascular patients, and medical overflow. Common therapies seen on 4D are chest tubes management, lytic therapy, antidysrhythmic, low dose vasopressors, Bipap and high flow oxygen systems, insulin drips, and precedex. 4D works closely with Neuro Trauma PCU and ICUs for opportunities to cross train between departments. We are part of the Critical Care Cluster, which includes all ICUs and PCUs.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.

• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.

• Physical Requirements/Demands: Stand/Walk most of the time on duty; significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance; push/pull/grip up to 50 pounds

• Experience: Can be new or experienced LPN

• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

• Preferred Certifications: IV Certification.
