Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our behavioral health inpatient units. You will provide direct patient care to adults 18–65, assist the clinical team, and support patient safety and recovery in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires an LPN license (PA or eNLC) and CPR certification, with a focus on documentation in EPIC and collaborative care with RNs and physicians. This position offers full-time hours at our Erie, PA facility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (required).
• Current LPN license in PA or multi-state licensure via the enhanced NLC (eNLC).
• CPR certification (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Performs general nursing care within the LPN scope of practice.
• Assists with equipment preparation and supports the clinical provider during treatment and testing.
• Collects assessment data and documents clinical information in patient records; reports changes to the RN/physician.
• Orders and reviews diagnostic tests as directed and prepares results for physician assessment.
• Schedules procedures and assists with administering medications and specimen collection.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additionally patients may have comorbid substance abuse disorders and medical comorbidities. The adult inpatient unit consist of 28 beds. Behavioral Health Geriatric Unit Behavioral Health Geriatric Unit providing the treatment of individuals age 65 and over with acute psychiatric illness or symptom exasperation of severe mental health disorders. Additionally patients may have more common medical comorbidities associated with chronic illnesses. The geriatric inpatient unit consist of 10 beds. General Overview

This job is a member of the direct care healthcare team and is responsible for providing care to patients and families under the direction of the registered nurse.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs general nursing care within the LPN scope of practice. (30%)
• Assists with the preparation of equipment and assists the clinical provider (registered nurse, advanced practice nurse and/or physician) during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. (20%)
• Collects assessment data, prepares patient for examination and documents clinical information on patient record and reports any changes in patients condition to the registered nurse, advanced practice nurse or physician. (20%)
• Orders diagnostic tests as directed by the clinical provider (registered nurse, advanced practice nurse and/or physician) and gathers diagnostic tests and/or examines results prior to physician/clinical provider assessment. (20%)
• Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations, as necessary, under the direction/oversight of the registered nurse. Assists nursing and medical staff with basic medical tasks such as administering medications, blood and tissue collection and/or other laboratory specimens; prepare patients for testing. (20%)
• Other duties as assigned or requested. (10%)

Qualifications

Required

• High School/GED
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)

Preferred

• 1 year in healthcare
• PALS or ACLS
• State approved IV course certification.
• Knowledge of EPIC documentation and assessment process
