Job summary

Athens Medical Group, a division of Summit Medical Group, is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their practice and support clinical tasks. This is a full-time opportunity in Athens, TN.

The successful candidate will escort patients, record vital signs, assist with procedures, administer medications, triage calls, and handle related clerical duties while maintaining clean, stocked exam rooms. Previous medical office experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program or medical assisting program.
• Current TN LPN license or nationally certified medical assisting certification required.
• Prefer one year of medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations per physician preference.
• Record vital signs: pulse, blood pressure, height, and general measurements.
• Perform procedures such as phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, and holter monitoring.
• Assist physicians with procedures and administer medications as directed; provide patient education.
• Handle triage calls, referrals, pre-certs, and prescription requests as needed.
• Contact patients about test results and other routine communications.
• Schedule patient appointments and maintain tidy, stocked exam rooms and work areas.

Job description

Athens Medical Group, a division of Summit Medical Group, has an immediate opening for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their practice to assist with clinical tasks.

This is a Full timeopportunity.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (List does not include all duties assigned)

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares patients for examinations and procedures according to physician preferences.
• Records vital signs of patients, including pulse, blood pressure, height, etc.
• Performs appropriate procedures, such as phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, holter monitors, etc.
• Assists the physician(s) with procedures, as well as administering medications and conducting patient educations.
• Handles phone nursing when appropriate, to include triaging, pre-certs, referrals, calling in prescriptions, etc.
• Performs clerical duties necessary for the physicians to see patients; contacts patients regarding test results or for other related reasons as directed.
• If needed, schedules patient appointments with efficient use of clinical time slots.
• Maintains stocked, neat and clean exam rooms and common work areas on a daily basis.

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited program in practical nursing or medical assisting.

** Current TN license in Practical Nursing or Nationally Certified in Medical Assisting certification REQUIRED.

EXPERIENCE:Prefer one year experience in a medical office setting.
