Adheres to universal precautions and is compliant with infection control policies. Carries out job requirements as delegated by and with the supervision of a registered nurse.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES** 1 Provides patient care, under the direction of an RN, in a warm and friendly manner. 2 Accurately takes and records measurements or readings. 3 Administers prescribed medications as indicated/documented by prescribing physician. 4 Works collaboratively with other caregivers on the unit.**QUALIFICATIONS** 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. One year previous experience. 3. Current Ohio LPN license. 4. Current IV certification for LPN (unless otherwise noted below) a. IV certification obtained within one year of employment if working for the Genesis Surgery Center. b. IV certification is not required for the following areas: Surgery (excluding Genesis Surgery Center, see above), Endoscopy, Hospice, Palliative care, and Hospital-Based Physician Offices (HOD offices). 5. Current CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of orientation. 6. Completion of an approved pharmacology course. 7. Ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others 8. Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan 9. Ability to read, calculate, and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.**PATIENT CENTERED CARE & BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS** 1. Promotes Patient and Employee Safety • Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.) • Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.) • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment • Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness. • Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.**WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
