Job summary

St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers in Saranac Lake, NY is seeking a full-time RN or LPN for night shifts (Thu-Sun 9:00pm-7:00am or Thu-Mon 11:00pm-7:00am).

The role provides nursing/medical services to residents and supports clinical staff in safety and compliance with SJRC rules. Eligible candidates must hold NYS LPN license with CPR certification (RN also acceptable) and have nursing skills aligned with NYS Education Department standards for nursing practice in addiction

Qualifications

• Requires NYS LPN license and CPR certification; RN also acceptable.
• Knowledge of medical/nursing skills current to NYS ED standards.
• Experience in alcohol/chemical dependency programs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing/medical services to clients.
• Respond to medical emergencies and transfer to hospital when needed.
• Maintain medical/nursing records and clinical logbook.
• Adhere to Pharmacy Services Policy and controlled substance procedures.
• Educate patients on health risks and HIV/AIDS, TB, hepatitis and other infections.
• Participate in meetings and QA activities.

Location: Inpatient Facility - Saranac Lake, NY

Position: Full-time RN or LPN

Shift/schedule: Thursday-Sunday, 9:00pm-7:00am OR Thursday-Monday, 11:00pm-7:00pm

Pay Range:$24.70/hour to $28.70/hour

Position Summary:

Provides medical and nursing services to clients. Assists clinical staff in monitoring residents and facility for safety and compliance with SJRC rules and regulations.

Education and Training:

N.Y.S. Licensed Practical Nurse and CPR certified or Registered Nurse.

Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge of current medical/nursing skills consistent with the requirements of the NYS Education Department relevant to Licensed Practical or Registered Nursing. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of alcohol and chemical dependency programs and treatment services.

Physical Demands:

No extraordinary physical demands required.

Essential Duties:

• Provides nursing/medical services to clients.
• Responds to medical emergencies including facilitation of transfer to hospital via rescue squad or SJRC van.
• Responsible for medical/nursing keys during shift.
• Adheres to Pharmacy Services Policy in its entirety, inclusive of controlled substance policy, procedures, and monitor.
• Documents medical information through clinical logbook and email system.
• Conducts and interprets comprehensive nursing assessments and mental status exam.
• Reports and records any medical/nursing issues to senior medical staff to allow for accurate progress notes and revisions to the treatment plan.
• Assists with the provision of education, risk education, counseling, and referral services to all patients regarding HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases, and other communicable diseases.
• Assists with the education of residents and staff regarding psycho-tropic medications, potential side effects and related medical concerns.
• Actively participates in meetings, committees, and quality assurance activities.
• Responsible for additional duties as may be assigned by the Senior Nurse.
