Job Summary: The Clinical Staff position is responsible for coordinating and implementing care plans for patients under the direct supervision of a health care provider.

Responsibilities
  • Work with members of the health care team to coordinate patient care services, including preparation of patients for examination or treatment, gathering of information including reason for visit and related patient information. Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and document findings in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Ensure accurate documentation is maintained, relay instructions to patients, schedule follow-up appointments and help ensure timely patient flow.
  • Collect and/or assist providers in collection of specimens, as required, using appropriate protocols. Complete requisitions, label, and route specimens according to clinic protocol.
  • Adhere to infection control standards including, but not limited to, hand hygiene, use of PPE, isolation of patient with known infectious disease, and equipment disinfection/sterilization.
  • Assist with special procedures and examinations following appropriate protocols such as infection control, universal protocol, and patient identification.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of examination rooms; stock assigned rooms/cupboards and ensure par levels of supplies are maintained. Ensure environmental and waste-conscious protocols are followed.
  • Complete and monitor required logs for equipment and medication, such as glucometer QC, refrigerator logs, and controlled substance tracking.
  • Coordinate patient needs by communicating with various service providers throughout the clinic. Remain accountable for information provided via internal communication channels (email, huddles, etc.) by reading and responding in a timely manner.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient messages within set guidelines and timeframes.
  • Complete medication refills in accordance with clinic protocol.

  • Knowledge of patient care standards and practices to successfully complete essential job functions.

  • Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

  • Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) software, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities and problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of professional and personal integrity.
  • Ability to convey professional demeanor and sound judgment in dealing with patients’ care, protection of patient privacy, and confidentiality.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Must maintain active LPN license. American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent sitting and computer work and allows employee to vary physical position or activity for comfort.
