Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking an LPN to provide nursing care under supervision at the East Providence facility. You will assist with plan of care, interview patients, document data, and perform routine nursing tasks including vital signs and medication administration.

Responsibilities include collaborating with RNs and physicians, performing EKG, PFT, and Doppler, and ensuring safety and infection control. Strong communication and computer/data entry skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing with current license to practice as an LPN in Rhode Island.
  • Current LPN license to practice in Rhode Island.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Previous clinical or healthcare experience.
  • Strong knowledge of computers; adept at data entry.
  • Excellent observation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • BLS certification.
  • 1-2 years recent nursing experience, preferred.

  • Administers medications, cleans and dresses wounds, and assists with other basic medical care tasks.
  • Observes patients' health.
  • Reviews medical charts.
  • Assists physicians and registered nurses.
  • Communicates with patients and their families.
  • Performs standard diagnostic procedures such as EKG, PFT, and Doppler.
  • Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
Basic Knowledge

Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing with current licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. In each step of the care process, demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.

Education and Experience
  • Completed state-approved LPN education program
  • Current LPN license to practice
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Previous clinical or healthcare experience
  • Strong knowledge of computers; adept at data entry
  • Excellent observation skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • BLS certification
  • 1-2 years recent nursing experience, preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Prolonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending, squatting, stooping.

Independent Action

Performs related routine duties as prescribed in the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island, and in conjunction within hospital and Department of Nursing policies and procedures. Plans and organizes priorities for effective patient care within the scope of existing departmental policies, generally refers specific problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.

Pay Range

$24.29-$40.07
