Job summary

North Shore Country Day School is seeking an immediate lower school assistant teacher in Winnetka, IL for the remainder of the 2026-2027 academic year. You will assist in homerooms with literacy, math, social studies, and the social-emotional curriculum while supporting lead teachers and the broader school community.

Candidates should be early in their teaching career, hold a bachelor's degree, and be prepared to cover recess and lunch duties and help transition students to after-care.

North Shore Country Day, a progressive, academically rigorous, co-ed, JK-12 independent school near Chicago, seeks candidates for an immediate lower school assistant teacher opening for the remainder of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Candidates should be at the start of their teaching career and have a desire to support, work collaboratively with and be mentored by experienced educators. Additionally, we seek candidates who have a demonstrable passion for the development of lower school age students as individuals and learners. A bachelor's degree is required. North Shore is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.

The role will include assisting in homerooms (instructional areas include literacy, mathematics, and social studies as well as the social/emotional curriculum) and supporting the work of the lead teachers and the broader school community through other responsibilities such as covering recess and lunch duties and assisting with the transition of students to our after-care program.
