The Virgin Islands Montessori School and International Academy is searching for an AMI trained Lower Elementary Guide to teach in one of our two Elementary classrooms on St. Thomas. Applicants should have patience, strong communication skills, and a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field. AMI training is essential, and candidates must be U.S. citizens or have a current U.S. visa.

• Must be AMI trained or training in process.

Position Title: Lower Elementary Guide

Job Description: Virgin Island Montessori School is seeking AMI trained Lower Elementary Guides to lead one of two Elementary classrooms on our beautiful campus on St. Thomas. This is a wonderful opportunity for a passionate Montessorian excited about building relationships with children, parents, and colleagues in a caring community where growth is valued and encouraged. Our School is celebrating its 60th year of offering AMI and IB education to youth on the island of St. Thomas. We are proud of both our history and culture.

We are seeking a candidate who has the ability to teach to a diverse set of learners (i.e. culture, ethnicity, race, neurodiversity). Someone who demonstrates grace, patience and excellent observational and communication skills. Someone who is organized, can multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect.

Requirements

• Completed training at an AMI Training Center; we are also entertaining guides who are in process of training
• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood teaching, education, or a related discipline is recommended
• Must have US Citizenship or current US Visa. While we would love to host our international community of Montessorians, the process of acquiring a work visa in the Virgin Islands is not ensured.
