Job summary

Alliance Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Haul Lowboy Driver to transport oversized loads and heavy machinery between job sites in Sioux Falls, SD. You will operate a specialized lowboy trailer, secure equipment using appropriate tie‑downs, and ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations.

The role requires 1–5 years of heavy haul or equipment transport experience, a clean driving record, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL: Must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and a current DOT medical card.
• Clean driving record with a safe history and minimal or no moving violations.
• Experience: typically 1–5 years in commercial driving, heavy haul, or equipment transport.
• Physical strength: ability to climb onto trailers, lift heavy tie‑down chains (50–75 lbs), and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Transport equipment: Drive a heavy‑duty truck to haul large machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders, rollers) to and from worksites.
• Load and unload: Safely load and unload heavy equipment onto/off the lowboy deck using ramps or hydraulic neck systems.
• Secure cargo: Properly fasten loads with chains, binders, straps, and tie‑down methods.
• Map travel paths while complying with state/federal weight, height, and oversized load permits.
• Perform pre/post‑trip inspections to identify mechanical or safety issues.
• Follow regulations: Maintain DOT logs and comply with FMCSA rules.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport Equipment: Drive a heavy-duty truck to haul large machinery like excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and rollers to and from work areas.
  • Load and Unload: Maneuver heavy equipment safely onto and off the lowboy deck, often using ramps or hydraulic neck systems.
  • Secure Cargo: Fasten equipment securely using heavy-duty chains, binders, straps, and specialized tie‑down methods.

  • Perform Inspections: Check the truck and trailer before and after every trip to find mechanical issues or safety problems.
