Pay Type / Range:

Journeyman Union Scale. $46.25 per hour (based on experience and/or size and type of equipment)

(This pay range is a good-faith estimate of compensation for this role.)

Job Summary: The Lowboy Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy construction equipment and machinery using a lowboy trailer. This role requires experience in operating and securing oversized and overweight loads in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The driver must also perform daily vehicle inspections, maintain accurate records, and support the operations team with equipment mobilization and demobilization.

Other Requirements: All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References may also be checked. We participate in E-Verify.

Job Duties & Requirements:

  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, and compactors.
  • Operate lowboy trailers, including detach and attach of gooseneck units.
  • Perform pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
  • Obtain and carry required permits for oversize and overweight loads.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch, field supervisors, and equipment managers.
  • Assist with equipment setup and teardown on job sites when necessary.
  • Maintain clean and organized truck and comply with company maintenance standards.
  • Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and any required load documentation accurately and on time.
  • Follow company and industry safety standards and procedures at all times.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Valid CDL Class A driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of verifiable experience hauling heavy equipment with a lowboy trailer.
  • Knowledge of load securement techniques and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to read and follow maps, routes, and permits.
  • Physical ability to climb on/off equipment, secure chains, and perform manual labor.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
  • High school education or GED equivalent.
  • Strong team player
