Job summary

Wachter, Inc. in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Low-Voltage Cable Technician to install and maintain structured cabling, CCTV, and network devices on multi-week projects. You will read blueprints, lead small teams, and ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years hands-on experience in low-voltage systems, structured cabling, networking, and CCTV.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic termination, network infrastructure, and POS deployment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must possess basic telecom tools and standard PPE.
  • Leadership experience with small teams is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain structured cabling systems (Cat5/Cat6, fiber, coax).
  • Perform conduit installation and cable dressing inside IDF/MDF cabinets.
  • Install and configure CCTV and network devices.
  • Lead small teams on multi‑week projects to ensure timely, safe delivery.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and site maps.
  • Operate boom/scissor lifts for elevated work.
  • Conduct testing and ensure safety/compliance.
  • Maintain documentation and communicate with clients.

We are seeking an experienced Low-Voltage Cable Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will handle hands‑on installations and lead small teams on multi‑week projects. This position requires extensive travel, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and Maintain: Set up, troubleshoot, and maintain structured cabling systems (Cat5/Cat6, fiber, coax).
  • Cabinet & Conduit Work: Perform conduit installation, cable dressing, and termination inside IDF/MDF cabinets.
  • Device Setup: Install and configure CCTV and network devices.
  • Project Leadership: Lead small teams on multi‑week projects to ensure timely, safe, and budget‑conscious delivery.
  • Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints and site maps.
  • Aerial Work: Operate BOOM and/or scissor lifts to work at heights up to 40+ feet.
  • Testing & Compliance: Conduct system testing and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Communication: Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in low‑voltage systems, structured cabling, networking, and CCTV.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of fiber optic termination, network infrastructure, and Point‑of‑Sale (POS) deployment/troubleshooting.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in the last 3 years).
  • Tools: Must possess basic telecom tools and standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Leadership: Comfortable working independently and leading small teams.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively (4–6 weeks at a time) and work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
Highly Desirable Skills (Preferred but Not Required)
  • Industry certifications: BICSI, OSHA, MSHA, AVIXA CTS, Panduit, Belden, or Corning.
  • Hands‑on experience with fusion splicing.
  • Experience running DSX cable certification testing.
