Job summary

FiberConNext is seeking an Infrastructure Technician to join our Knoxville, TN team. If you take pride in precise cabling, clean terminations, and professional customer service, we want to hear from you.

Solid Cat6 and fiber experience is essential, along with a safe, no-mistakes work approach. You will install and terminate structured cabling and fiber, build pathways, service access control and IP/Analog cameras, and test, label, and document installations to meet client SLAs.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of proven experience in low voltage cabling and infrastructure.
  • Fiber optic installation and termination experience required.
  • Ability to read blueprints, architectural drawings, and electrical documents; working knowledge of industry standards.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for travel to client sites.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Install & Terminate: Complete physical installation and removal of structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and Fiber Optic systems (Multimode and Single Mode).
  • Build Pathways: Install cabinets, cable trays, ladder racks, and through-wall penetration systems.
  • Security & Tech: Install and service Access Control (maglocks, strikes, readers) and IP/Analog camera systems (NVRs/DVRs).
  • Test & Document: Use industry-standard tools to test and label all installations. Maintain accurate redline drawings and documentation for client SLAs.
  • Client Interaction: Act as the face of the company, communicating technical details clearly to customers and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring
  • Experience: 2–5 years of proven experience in low voltage cabling and infrastructure.
  • Fiber Expertise: Proficiency in installing and terminating fiber optic cable is required.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read blueprints, architectural drawings, and electrical documents. Working knowledge of BICSI, ANSI, and TIA/EIA standards.
  • Physical Capability: Must be comfortable climbing ladders and frequently lifting/moving up to 50 lbs (with occasional lifts up to 100 lbs).
  • Clean Record: Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for travel to various client sites.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation.
The "Plus" Factors
  • Experience with Audio/Video systems (paging amps, projectors, etc.).
  • WIFI installation and Access Point configuration.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in a related field.
