Job summary

SFCS in Roanoke, VA seeks a mid‑level Low Voltage Systems Designer to join our design team. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and clients to design and coordinate low voltage systems for a range of building projects.

The ideal candidate has RCDD certification or intent to obtain it, proven LV design experience for commercial, healthcare, and institutional facilities, and strong skills with Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• RCDD certification or plans to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
• Experience designing low voltage systems for commercial, healthcare, senior living, education, government or similar facilities.
• Strong knowledge of LV systems including structured cabling, nurse call, access control, CCTV, wireless networks, intercom and AV.
• Proficiency with Revit; strong written and verbal communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordinate low voltage systems for new construction, renovation, and expansion projects.
• Evaluate project requirements and develop practical, innovative, and cost-efficient system solutions.
• Prepare construction documents, specifications, drawings, and bid packages using AutoCAD, Revit, and related tools.
• Coordinate low voltage systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and specialty disciplines.
• Conduct site observations and verify construction progress and design intent.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams through all project phases.
• Support project management activities including planning, coordination, scheduling, and client communication.
• Participate in meetings and presentations to discuss requirements and coordination efforts.
• Provide guidance to early-career designers and maintain a collaborative team environment.
• Stay current with evolving technologies, products, software, and industry best practices.
