Job summary

Wachter, Inc. in Erie, PA seeks a temporary Lead Low Voltage Cable Technician to support a Veterans Administration project. You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain voice, data, and security cabling infrastructure, including IP cameras (Axis).

Candidates should have 3–5 years of LV cabling experience, knowledge of CCTV, blueprints, and a valid driver’s license; willing to work nights/days and lift at heights. End date July 2027.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Low Voltage Cable Technician with CAT5e, fiber optic, and network experience.
  • Experience with CCTV, security systems, and alarm systems is a plus.
  • Industry certifications (BICSI, Siemon, Panduit, Belden, Verkada, Corning) are a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and site maps.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record within last 3 years.
  • Willingness to work nights and days as required.
  • Experience in installing and terminating cabling in commercial spaces.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces and at heights.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cabling infrastructure.
  • Installation of IP cameras, Axis specifically.
  • Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings and drill through concrete walls.
  • Neatly tie and bundle cables per safety standards.
  • Install cable support structures (j-hooks, racks, innerduct).
  • Repair cable poles and towers as needed.
  • Test systems and components after installation to ensure operation.
  • Troubleshoot network cabling to meet codes and safety requirements.
  • Follow project safety requirements (OSHA) and provide updates to project management.

Job description

Wachter, Inc. is seeking a temporary, highly skilled Lead Low Voltage Cable Technician to support infrastructure projects at the Veterans Administration in Erie, PA. You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain voice, data, and security cabling infrastructure. THIS IS A TEMPORARY HIRE WITH AN ESTIMATED END DATE OF JULY 2027.

Requirements:
  • TEMPORARY HIRE - EST. END DATE OF JULY 2027
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Low Voltage Cable Technician with CAT5e, fiber optic, (Terminations of fiber required) and network experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with CCTV, Security Systems, and Alarm Systems is a plus.
  • Industry-specific certifications are a huge plus (BICSI, Siemon, Panduit, Belden, Verkada, Corning).
  • Ability to work nights, and day shifts when the job requires.
  • Experience reading blueprints and site maps.
  • Experience in CCTV, voice, and data cabling.
  • Knowledgeable in closeouts and MDF/IDF buildouts.
  • Knowledgeable in identifying independent colors and learning color codes.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces.
  • Ability to operate a BOOM or scissor lift, and ability to work at heights.
  • Has basic telecommunication tools, PPE, and reliable transportation.
  • Must have knowledge of cabling infrastructure.
  • Proficient with the use of smartphones, personal computers, including email, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the last three years.
  • Experience in conduit installation is a plus.
Responsibilities:
  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various cabling infrastructure.
  • Installation of IP cameras, specifically Axis.
  • Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limitedconduit work.
  • Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.
  • Installing of cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct.
  • Repairing cable poles and towers.
  • Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cables systems and component devices areoperational.
  • Troubleshoot issues with cable networks to ensure the proper functioning and to ensure the system meets local, county, state, or federal codes; legal and/or insurance requirements.
  • Adhere to all required project safety requirements as set forth by Wachter, our customers, orOSHA.
  • Provide regular updates to Project Management on project status and current objectives.

$35 - $40 an hour

Base on qualifications and experience.
