Job summary

ADESA, a Carvana-owned company, seeks a dedicated account shopper to ensure vehicles meet auction standards across designated accounts.

You will liaise with auction operations, oversee reconditioning, coordinate repairs, and manage inventory to enable a smooth, customer-focused auction experience. This role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
  • Able to safely drive a variety of vehicle makes, models, and sizes.
  • Automotive or auction experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Customer liaison between auction operations and customers while performing pre-sale quality checks and supporting overall operational flow.
  • Reconditioning oversight: manage vehicle preparation and oversee services like PDR or glass repair to ensure sale readiness.
  • Repair coordination: review and write repair orders and coordinate with shops.
  • Inventory management: locate, number, and move vehicles; confirm VIN, make, year, and mileage.
  • Track missing units and assist with locating vehicles for customers.
  • Lot organization: apply numbers, tags, and stickers; mark windshields for sale.
  • Sale day execution: coordinate lane activities for efficient auction experience.
  • Diagnostics: perform basic vehicle diagnostics to decide whether to move to the Mechanic Shop.
  • Quality control: walk vehicles with customer reps for final quality check.
  • Operational support: use devices to scan inventory, record movement, and photograph vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role and Team

  • Reporting to the Commercial Accounts Manager (CAM) or other designated manager, you will act as the "shopper" for designated accounts. You are responsible for managing the outside and administrative functions of one or more departments—Dealer Consignment, Commercial Accounts, or Retail Accounts—to ensure vehicles meet high standards for auction readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Liaison: Act as a liaison between auction operations and customers while performing pre-sale quality checks and supporting overall operational flow.
  • Reconditioning Oversight: Manage vehicle preparation by recommending and overseeing reconditioning services, such as PDR or glass repair, based on account criteria to ensure sale readiness.
  • Repair Coordination: Review and write repair orders, entering them into the PC system and coordinating repairs with the shops.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management by locating, numbering, and moving vehicles to designated areas while confirming VIN, make, year, and mileage.
  • Tracking & Accuracy: Track missing units and assist with locating vehicles for customers.
  • Lot Organization: Apply appropriate numbering, tagging, and stickers to vehicles; mark numbers on windshields and place units on spot for sale.
  • Sale Day Execution: Coordinate sale lane activities to drive an efficient and customer-focused auction experience.
  • Diagnostics: Perform basic vehicle diagnostic determinations to decide if a vehicle needs to be moved to the Mechanic Shop.
  • Quality Control: Walk vehicles with customer representatives before the sale for a final quality check.
  • Operational Support: Use electronic devices to scan inventory, record movement, and take photos of vehicles as needed.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the designated manager.
