SUBJECT: Long Term Substitute Teacher: Intermediate

REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL

This vacancy is for a leave of absence scheduled through January 4, 2027. Should this leave extend or another leave require coverage, the successful candidate may be offered the opportunity for continued employment.

As a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of students in your classroom. You will be expected to align your teaching to the district and state curriculum; to regularly assess students for learning comprehension and to modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learning needs of all students, especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities.

• Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.
• Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
• Responsible for mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.
• Responsible for effective management of classroom environment.
• Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
• Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate Massachusetts DESE educator's license in Elementary 1-6.
• SEI Endorsement
• Teaching experience in the content area
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
• Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African Language

WORK YEAR: Long Term Substitute assignment through January 4, 2027. The successful candidate may be offered the opportunity to continue in this, or a similar, placement as needed.

SALARY: $50/hour, 6 hours/day
