Essential Duties and Responsibilities helping out in classrooms.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Working under the direction of the classroom teacher to:

• Assist individual students with learning tasks assigned by the teacher.
• Assist students in small group learning situations as assigned by the classroom teacher.
• Supervise seat work while teacher is working with small groups.
• Assist the teacher with other instruction-related tasks.
• Assist with student supervision outside the classroom in activities such asemergency drills andcommunity based outings.
• Assist with any other duties directed by the school administrators as they would relate to instruction of students.

Minimum Training and Experience Required:

• Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
• Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the abilityto assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
